Contactless payment device offers customer card control

Payments processor First Data Corp. has introduced a new PIN pad that provides the ability to accept contactless payments as well as cardholder-initiated, contactless, PIN-based debit and traditional magnetic strip transactions. According to First Data, this device could give “thousands of merchants the ability to accept contactless payments, potentially giving consumers exponentially more places to use this payment type.”
Called the FD-30, it allows merchants to offer their customers the ability to initiate and complete their transaction while holding onto their card during the payments process.
