Cogent Systems, a developer of fingerprint scanning technology, has announced that they received an order for 1,000 of their BlueCheck units by the Los Angeles County Regional Identification Systems (LACRIS). The order adds to the 500 units Cogent previously deployed to LACRIS.
BlueCheck is a mobile identification device intended to be used by law enforcement agencies for quick on-site access to biometric databases. In LA, these devices will communicate via Bluetooth with mobile police computers or other mobile computing devices to allow the officers access to the LACRIS Automated Fingerprint Identification System.
The LA Sheriff’s Department has already received multiple success stories involving the use of the devices and considers them invaluable to their operation and keeping the communities safe. Additionally, they are looking forward to getting the devices in the hands of even more Los Angeles County officers.
