Samsung has reached an agreement with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, placing Samsung-branded NFC stickers in all 51 Singapore locations.
TechCrunch reports that the marketing campaign — which began on February 8 and will run through March 7 — will reward Samsung device users with an larger drink just for tapping the NFC stickers. The NFC tag takes customers to the Coffee Bean Facebook page, and to redeem the upgrade customers simply ‘Like’ the Coffee Bean Facebook page.
The campaign is using Samsung’s TecTile stickers, and reports from Samsung suggest that other NFC-enabled, Mifare-compliant Android devices should be able to interact with the TecTile NFC stickers.
Singapore has been notoriously supportive of the developing NFC landscape, and last year saw the launch a national tap to pay system. Singapore has been operating under CEPAS (Contactless e-Purse Application) since 2009— a national technology standard for contactless payments.
