Chicago Public Schools (CPS), the nation’s third largest school district serving over 402,000 students, has selected Radiant RFID to implement its Virtual Asset Tracker (VAT) to manage the school district’s diverse and mobile inventory of more than $450 million in capital and controlled assets.
Radiant is working with CPS to replace its current bar code system with an RFID solution for approximately 100,000 assets at 200 campuses while upgrading data visibility district-wide. The RFID-based asset management solution will resolve complex asset management challenges – reducing human effort and error – across many campuses by automating data collection.
Virtual Asset Tracker (VAT), a complete solution consisting of UHF Gen 2 RFID technology and Radiant software, will enable CPS to accurately report expected and exact locations of large numbers of mobile assets, including technology, video, A/V and kitchen equipment, and furniture, instruments, and vehicles.
In addition, VAT automates detailed reporting of asset location and ownership. Users are able to create custom reports and view system dashboards to make better decisions for the utilization of assets.
The Radiant RFID solution will ultimately encompass all 650+ campuses in the district.
