British Columbia is making plans to replace its CareCard with a new smart card that will hold various types of data, reports the Burns Lake District News.
Announced in May, the new card will replace the old CareCard because there are twice as many cards in circulation as there are residents eligible for the Medical Services Plan. The government hopes to start issuing them next year.
The new CareCard will enable online access to medical records, act as a confirmation for age and residence and may also be used as a driver’s license.
