Researchers from the Tag Security Research Group (TSRG) working on the EU-funded BRIDGE project, a research project aimed at discovering what security measures could improve RFID technology’s use at point of sale operations, have confirmed that an anti-counterfeiting solution that conforms to the EPCglobal standard is possible.
The technology the TSRG came upon enables RFID tags to be wiped of their information thereby relieving the worry of leaks of private consumer information.
What makes the technology even more viable in the market is that the tags can still be reactivated should the product be returned. Business manager for EPCglobal, David Lyon, expects this new technology to be a great relief to consumers as they should see more efficiency with both purchases and returns, ensured authenticity of the products they are buying and the increased protection of any of their personal information.
