A new version of CRYPTOcard’s BlackShield ID now features authentication options without the use of hardware tokens. GrIDSure, phone tokens, SafeStick and SMS capability are among the options contributing to BlackShield ID v.2.6 which allows users to generate one-time passwords without hardware or software token.
Access options for Java phones as well as methods for SMS one-time password authentication have been developed in this new version.
Mobiles phones double as tokens providing authentication to VPNs, Web applications, Citrix and any other BlackShield ID protected online resources. Resources for SMS include SMS, SMS No Waiting, SMS No Waiting Plus, SMS Single Sign On and SMS Challenge/Response.
The SMS options deliver the OTP via text message in a variety of methods depending on the users needs. The challenge/response feature for instance requires a proper user ID before deploying the passcode. Another method, the SMS Single Sign On gives the user a time-limited pass-code to use with their PIN during authentication.
