Blackboard entered into an agreement to acquire Saf-T-Net, Inc., provider of AlertNow, a messaging and mass notification solution for K-12 schools.

The acquisition will total approximately $33 million, excluding transaction costs and subject to certain adjustments.

Saf-T-Net provides features that Blackboard will use to enhance and accelerate development of it’s own messaging and mass notification solution, Blackboard Connect.

Blackboard Connect includes new parent portal technology, enhanced survey capabilities and multi-lingual capabilities.
