Solutions are being developed by companies such as biometrics developer Biometric Security Solutions that help track employees and what cargo each one is handling in warehouses, according to an Engineering News article.

Some of the biometric-based controls that Biometric Security Solutions has developed include a scanner that scans both fingerprints and label containers that communicates with a locking mechanism that unlocks containers only when the correct personnel has scanned himself.

In addition to utilizing biometric technologies to improve workflow in warehouses, companies are looking at its ability to improve security as an access control system as well. However, some have been going further by integrating biometric technology across many more systems such as time and attendance tracking for employees.
