Hitachi, a Japan-based technology development firm, has been developing a new device that would enable vending machines to utilize vascular biometrics for payment, according to a Tech Radar article.
Specifically, a user would have to register their finger-vein patterns with their credit card so that a swipe of the finger could be used to pay for various treats offered by the machines.
In addition to the machines being fitted with biometric capabilities, they also have an LCD screen embedded in them for advertising usage. The aspect that has some worried, however, is that the advertising can use what your personal buying habits obtained via biometric purchases to tailor each ad to you.
