Biometric Access Corporation Provides Biometric Solution for State ID Program

ROUND ROCK, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 16, 2004–Biometric Access Corporation (BAC), a leading provider of biometric identity verification solutions, today announced its SecureTouch(R) solution has been selected for a state agency ID program pilot.
BAC will supply to the state its SecureTouch biometric devices as part of a total system solution developed by a vendor partner. The SecureTouch devices, which include an integrated finger image reader and smart card reader as well as BAC’s proprietary finger image matching software, will be used to verify the identity of 30,000 users participating in the program pilot. Other vendors have also been selected to participate in the pilot, which will run through Dec. 2004. The state plans to select one of the piloted solutions for a full implementation beginning in 2005.

SecureTouch enables users to verify their identity by providing a live finger image that is matched to the master images stored on their smart card, thereby providing increased security and privacy. The integrated finger image reader and smart card reader design is small and compact, and the device is easily connected to a computer via a single USB port.
BAC also markets SecureTouch-n-Pay(TM), a total system solution for retail point-of-sale transactions. It provides retailers with automated electronic financial transactions that are instantly verified and authorized by the customer through finger image authentication. SecureTouch On-Time(TM) is BAC’s time and attendance solution that enables users to record work hours using a finger image and replaces ID cards, punch cards and passwords.
