BIO-key and Educational Biometric Technology achieved a perfect score recently at a Minnesota school, which upgraded to BIO-key’s latest software release that includes fingerprint matching software. The program eliminates the need for students to remember a PIN or carry an identification card to establish their identity.
New Biometric release, VST 5.5 Attains 100% Identification Results
WALL, N. J. – BIO-key International Inc., a leader in wireless public safety solutions and finger-based biometric identification, and Educational Biometric Technology (EBT), a leader in the development, integration and marketing of biometric fingerprint identification solutions for the education market, announced perfect performance results with VST 5.5, BIO-key’s latest software upgrade release to EBT’s customer base.
Educational Biometric Technology’s identification solution, based on BIO-key’s patented fingerprint matching software, VST, eliminates the need for students to remember a PIN or carry an identification card to establish their identity. EBT, a pioneer in providing fingerprint biometrics to the education market with an installed base of over 300 schools has been providing identification systems to schools since 1997. Solutions from EBT make using biometrics in any area of the school not only a possibility, but an inexpensive and easy alternative to the less convenient and error prone Student ID Card systems.
“With the BIO-key fingerprint technology engine as an integral part of our system, Educational Biometric Technology continues to offer the most cost effective, accurate and easy to use system on the education market today,” stated Bob Engen, President of Educational Biometric Technology.
EBT is committed to keeping their customers equipped with current leadership technology. As a result they recently began updating their installed base with VST 5.5, BIO-key’s latest finger biometric software release.
At The Academy of Holy Angels School in MN, EBT’s first customer to be upgraded, only three students out of the 1000 students (or 0.3%) failed to be identified after the upgrade was completed. However, upon further analysis, it was discovered that the presumed three “false reject” students had not been enrolled into the system. Once the administrative error was corrected, the “failed to be identified” rate was 0%! EBT has achieved similar outstanding performance results from VST 5.5 upgrades across their customer base.
“We are thrilled with the results reported by EBT,” said Mike DePasquale, CEO of BIO-key International. “This certainly is a real world validation, in a very challenging operating environment, of the robustness of our technology.” DePasquale concluded, “BIO-key is committed to supporting EBT and our other partners with the most flexible, easy to deploy identification tools, enabling them to provide their customers with the best return on their investment in deploying a simple, and convenient identification solution.”
