Berry College at Head of Security Class With BioPassword’s Authentication Solution
SEATTLE, WA — BioPassword, Inc., the leader in software-only strong authentication, today announced that Berry College, located just outside Rome, Georgia, is deploying BioPassword Enterprise Edition to authenticate users of their internal databases by verifying the rhythm of their typing. The liberal arts college, with more than 1,900 students, broadens BioPassword’s reach to meet the growing demand for stronger authentication in the education market to enhance the protection of students, faculty and staff records, while streamlining their login processes.
In the past year alone, more than 1 million student records have been exposed through dozens of data breaches at colleges and universities across the United States. Berry College sought to take a proactive step to address this trend by implementing a cost-effective solution to authenticate the users of their internal databases, while not interrupting the users’ logon process. Berry College wanted to make sure the people accessing sensitive information – students, faculty and staff – could verify their identity, without the cost and complexity of extra hardware or token-based solutions.
Berry College’s databases are now protected by BioPassword Enterprise Edition, which is the only platform that combines the user’s standard logon credentials (username and password), keystroke biometrics (their unique typing rhythm), one-time passwords (single use password delivered to your mobile device) and knowledge-based authentication (user selected questions and answers).
“BioPassword’s keystroke biometric solution was a perfect fit for our needs for a non-intrusive second factor of authentication,” said William Souder, Director of Network Operations and Information Security Officer at Berry College. “We searched for a reliable security solution that eliminated the process of multiple sign-ons and expensive token devices, but provided both identity management and secure access. With BioPassword’s software-only solution, we are providing a fortified security layer and simplifying the procedure for our faculty, staff and student workers.”
“As educational data becomes increasingly digitized, institutions like Berry College are staying ahead of the curve by deploying solutions that protect critical data and exposure to unauthorized security leaks,” said Tim Farnham, CIO at Berry College. “BioPassword is already proving itself as a viable two-factor authentication option with the lowest TCO for organizations nationwide.”
“We are thrilled that Berry College is joining our growing customer base as it highlights that BioPassword is an ideal solution for educational institutions,” said Mark Upson, CEO of BioPassword. “We look forward to providing more educational institutions across the globe with a reliable, fast, cost-effective way to protect sensitive information.”
