Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) has expanded its Bear Bucks Program to include Blueberry Hill, a local hangout restaurant and music club, according to an independent student newspaper.

Bobo Noodle House and Kayak’s coffee are also jumping on board and accepting them as part of a pilot program for off-campus businesses. These new additions come following a recent University-wide Student Union survey issued earlier this fall to determine where students wanted Bear Bucks to be accepted

Bear Bucks eliminates the need for students, faculty and staff to carry cash or coins for everyday purchases such as meals, laundry, vending and printing. They are non-transferable cash points used in place of cash, similar to a debit card. One Bear Buck is equivalent to one dollar.

Bear Bucks can be used at all university dining locations on the four WUSTL campuses, as well as select off-campus eateries located nearby. Additionally, purchases made at on-campus dining locations do not include sales tax which saves students a percent per transaction.
