Barclaycard, Orange to launch mobile payment in 2010

UK’s Barclaycard and mobile service provider Orange are planning to deploy NFC-enabled mobile phones by the end of 2010, according to The Register.
The announcement came during a presentation by Barclaycard’s Head of Innovation Marketing, Sarah Mansfield, who stated that before the end of the year Orange customers will be able to buy NFC-enabled handsets.
Mansfield also said that the new phones will leverage an iPhone and Android augmented-reality application that directs users to NFC-ready retailers or the nearest ATM.
