The new Piccolino line of tags under Assa Abloy ITG’s Sokymat brand provide large memory capacity in a small form factor. The tags are smaller than a dime, are compliant with ISO 15693, and hold more than 1000 characters of data. The company describes them as ideal for inclusion in medical devices and other high value items for tracking and proving authenticity.
New Family of Sokymat branded Transponders for applications where small size and high memory capacity are required
Launch of 13.56 MHz Piccolino Tag Family with memory of up to 10kbits
Walluf, August 2nd, 2007 – Assa Abloy Identification Technologies (ITG), one of the leading providers of products and services in the RFID market, has launched the new Sokymat Piccolino Tag family that is highly suitable for all applications where the small size of the transponder is key to the application. The new tags are smaller than a One-Eurocent coin with diameters of 9.5 mm and 7.5 mm and can store more than thousand characters. Thanks to its small size, the Piccolino can be easily integrated into OEM equipments such as medical devices to enable maintenance and warranty follow up, or into high-value assets to prove genuineness.
The high memory capacity allows to store a large volume of data related to the identified equipment including the maintenance dates, device set-up parameters, production lot, model type and much more information.
The ISO 15693 compliant Piccolino 95 MY-D 10K tag with a diameter of 9.5 mm is available with a memory of up to 10kbits or with smaller memory sizes of 1kbit or 2 kbits with I-code SLI or SLI S. The Piccolino 75 with a diameter of only 7.5 mm is offered with 1kbit or 2kbit memory. ITG is independent from any chip supplier and can therefore provide the product on a project basis with different 13.56 MHz chips such as STM, or EM following customer specific requirements.
The Piccolino family is manufactured by applying an ITG specific technology of epoxy encapsulation, ideal for the production of small tags. The RFID circuit is integrated into a new micro module that protects the chip and allows to easily connect the winded copper coil.
ITG can also provide the necessary ISO 15693 reader modules for applications which require versatile features and small size for OEM integration. Already in the initial phase of a project, ITG offers technical expertise and consulting services and thereby creates added value by proposing the right technologies, products and customization options.
Samples of the new Piccolino tags will be available in August 2007.
