ASSA ABLOY buys contactless transit supplier Novacard do Brasil

ASSA ABLOY ITG has purchased Brazilian contactless card manufacturer, Novacard do Brasil, a company with strong ties into the country’s large transit fare collection and ticketing markets. “In the future, we envision expanding our product offering in the Latin American market to include animal identification, industrial and logistics, and electronic documents,” says ASSA ABLOY ITG’s CEO Juan Garcia.
ASSA ABLOY ITG acquires Novacard do Brasil, a leading Brazilian contactless card manufacturer
Walluf (Germany), July 10th 2006 – ASSA ABLOY ITG, one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of identification components, announces today the acquisition of Novacard do Brasil, a Brazil-based manufacturer of contactless cards.
Novacard do Brasil, a subsidiary of CardFactory AG, serves mainly the mass transit market in Brazil, which is the third largest high frequency card market in the world. Novacard do Brasil is based in Ilheus and Campinas, Brazil.
