Australia-based ANZ Bank is launching New Zealand’s first contactless “tap and go” credit cards, according to stuff.co.nz.
The new ANZ Rugby World Cup MasterCards will allow customers to make tap and go payments for transactions of less than $80 wherever contactless payments are accepted, without the need to sign or enter a PIN.
According to ANZ executive Mark Wilkshire, New Zealand’s first contactless payment terminals have been installed in Auckland’s Eden Park and Wellington’s Westpac Stadium in order to cut down on concessions lines at half-time for sporting events.
ANZ is also planning to introduce the technology in “corridors” of retailers around the stadiums in preparation for the Rugby World Cup, says stuff.co.nz.
