Allscripts’ new product incorporates Fujitsu biometrics

Allscripts, a developer of electronic records solutions for the health care industry, has announced the unveiling of a joint effort between themselves and biometric technology developer Fujitsu, according to a Kiosk Marketplace article.
The outcome of the two companies working together is a biometric-secured kiosk intended to improve the security of sensitive patient records and information via Fujitsu’s PalmSecure vascular scanning technology while maintaining itself as a low-cost option for the added security.
The companies are expecting to ship 50 of the kiosks out to health care institutions this quarter which will not only see a change in security, but procedure as well, as the kiosks allow the patient to check-in, tend to their payments, update personal information and get updates for overdue procedures themselves.
