Alien Technology has announced that its new Higgs-3 RFID IC’s will now come equipped with an extra security feature called “Dynamic Authentification.”
According to Alien, Dynamic Authentication incorporates a challenge/response algorithm which defeats static cloning attempts of the Higgs-3 IC. This feature initiates an interaction between the reader and the tag whereby the tag’s signature is challenged by the reader for Higgs-3 authenticity.
Dynamic Authentication is offered in addition to the standard features of the Higgs-3, which include permanently encoded 32-bit TID and the unique 64-bit factory programmed UTID. Also, Higgs-3 IC’s are password protected and require read lock viewing permission for accessing User data.
Alien has geared the Higgs-3 IC’s for use in UHF RFID anti-counterfeit and authentication applications, particularly for high value goods or where brand protection, safety, or security is paramount.
