Albron, an independent caterer in the Netherlands, will offer biometric- and contactless-based payments in its restaurants thanks to a newly signed agreement with pan-European payment processor Equens.
The caterer will use the service “Snel en Simpel Betalen” (Quick and Easy Payments) to offer its customers the ability to choose whether they wish to pay using their finger or using a contactless-enabled payment device.
Biometric payments are made quick and secure, with positive identification carried out using a combination of the fingerprint and the finger’s vein patterns. “The possibility to pay biometrically means that they no longer need to bring anything with them to pay at the cash register,” said Hans Jacobs, general manager of operations at Albron.
Albron added that it will from now on be offering the service to its customers, and plans to implement the solution in as many of its restaurants as possible in the Netherlands.
