Advanced Card System launches EMV contactless terminal

Advanced Card Systems announced its plan to launch the ACR123 contactless payment terminal to address the increasing response for contactless payment applications.
The ACR123 will be compatible with major contactless payment programs through its certification (EMV Levels 1 and 2). The new terminal will support different contactless cards and multiple contactless transactions including ISO14443, Mifare, MasterCard PayPass and Visa PayWave cards.
The next version of the ACR123 will also support ISO18092, FeliCa cards and NFC functionalities. To ensure a quick and secure transaction, the ACR123 is equipped with three built-in ISO7816-compliant secure access module (SAM).
ACR123 can support USB or RS232 host interface that can be used to easily implement to link to existing point-of-sale terminals or cash registers, which only support mag stripe and contact EMV chip card payment.
Engineering samples of ACR123 are said to become available in October, 2012.
