Absa Group announced it plans to begin trials expanding its contactless payment network at the bank’s rugby fan park in Cape Town, according to ITWeb.
The first trial of the new Springbok Supporters Club tap-and-go card will be piloted at the Absa Boktown fan park, where fans will be able to tap the card to pay for food and beverages.
Outside the park, the card will be accepted for payment of goods and services at the more than 1,000 Absa participating merchants.
In addition, the same Springbok Supporters Club tap-and-go card will work in the Cape Town bus rapid transit system.
