The American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) has announced that they will be hosting a symposium to target issues such as credentialing and access control as they relate to aviation security, according to an Aviation News article.
In addition to workshops set out to review current credentialing programs in place at airports, the symposium will consist of panel discussions built around the next generation in technology for credentialing and access control, such as biometrics. The panels will consist of ranking officials from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency as well as the Transportation Security Administration.
AAAE is expecting special attention to be given to currently available biometric solutions in airport employee identification and access control systems. Additionally, they expect further special attention to be given to the Biometric Airport Security Identification Consortium, the Aviation Credential Interoperability Solution and other federal legislation on security standards.
