Rändivoo, Nymi join forces for authentication

Brivo Labs’ Rändivoo visitor management system will be capable of integrating with the Nymi band for identity authentication. Rändivoo is billed as a visitor experience system designed to change the way guests interact with office spaces. The technology authenticates identity without using badges, passcodes, or IDs.
The Nymi band is wearable authentication technology that works with the user’s heartbeat and another device like a smart phone. “Pairing Rändivoo with Nymi provides a unique form of identity for added security for access control,” says Nick Castillo, Brivo Labs’ digital innovation and media manager.
The demonstration video below shows how Brivo Labs used Nymi’s emulator, known as the Nymulator, to enable the pairing. “The Nymulator was a great help when it came to developing and testing Rändivoo, as we did not have a physical device yet. Minimal coding was needed to configure our Rändivoo app to confirm it was working with the Nymulator,” Castillo says. “We had to make sure that the iPad running Rändivoo and the MacBook running the Nymulator were on the same wireless network, as this is how they communicated.”
After creating a virtual Nymi band and provisioning it with Brivo’s NthID app, Rändivoo can recognize the wearable band. Users walk up to the guest check-in kiosk and are recognized from the Nymi.
Brivo Labs liked the idea of integrating with the Nymi band because it provides an extra layer of security. “Rändivoo is Brivo Labs’ first product that has been released to the general public, so we saw this as a great opportunity to add this as a feature to our visitor experience system,” Castillo says. “Integrations with wearables like the Nymi band allow us to provide more options for our customers that support a frictionless solution to unlock doors.”
