Smart Card Alliance announced 13th Annual Government show
The 13th Annual Smart Card Alliance Government Conference returns to Washington, D.C. this October. More than 70 speakers will address efforts toward strong authentication technology in government identity programs, including PIV credentials, updates on NSTIC, developments in mobile identity programs and evolving NIST standards.
The 13th Annual Smart Card Alliance Government Conference will be held Oct. 29-30, 2014 with pre-conference workshops on Oct. 28 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C.
The conference will include keynote presentations, speakers, panels and roundtable discussions, allowing attendees to choose among multiple identification, security technology and policy track panels to create their own customized conference experience. Tracks include: ID Security Technology & Applications; ID Security Implementation & Policy; Healthcare ID Security; Biometrics; and DARPA Active Authentication.
The conference will feature expanded coverage of initiatives that will see progress in the next year:
FICAM Roadmap and Testing Programs: Identity management issues across government agencies have been well-documented by the Government Accountability Office, NSTIC, and the Office of Management and Budget, and outlined in the new cybersecurity initiative. The resulting roadmap for the framework for federal identity credentials and access management (FICAM) is being combined with testing and compatibility programs for data security, privacy and use of high assurance authentication by government agencies. General Services Administration (GSA) officials will present how the government expects to meet these goals in a comprehensive manner across the federal enterprise.
Health care ID and Biometric Technology: Following recent government efforts, the conference features an expanded agenda for the healthcare sector. Smart health identity cards provide a privacy-sensitive, secure solution with significant benefits to healthcare providers. Conference sessions will reflect and amplify the industry-leading work of the Smart Card Alliance Health and Human Services and Identity Councils. This year’s conference also features an expanded look at biometric security solutions.
Mobile Credentials Storage and Security Use Cases: The extension of existing identity credentials and developments for new credentialing programs for use with mobile devices is reshaping how security professionals view the marketplace. Conference sessions will provide insight into evolving mobile ecosystem and usage models for mobile security solutions.
