Janrain releases mobile registration suite
Janrain unveiled the Mobile Registration Solution for its Customer Profile Management platform that enables personalized digital marketing campaigns across channels and devices. The new solution makes it easy to perform brand campaigns across digital touch points by enabling consumers to log in with a single identity on a brand’s website, mobile site and mobile apps.
Janrain’s Mobile Registration Solution was developed to help marketers reach a consumer who now spends nearly 40% of their online time on mobile devices. “With the demise of cookies, mobile registration is the only way to reliably connect customer identity across devices,” said Larry Drebes, CEO at Janrain. “Making it simple to log in is the clearest path to offering personalized campaigns.”
Whole Foods, Channel 4, Dr Pepper, Marvel and others rely on Janrain to offer unified customer experience across desktop and mobile devices. Logged-in Channel 4 viewers, for example, can pause and resume television programs across devices, while Whole Foods shoppers can create grocery lists from a desktop, then access them in the store.
Studies have found that only 3% of people successfully complete registration on mobile devices, while 30% will complete a similar process on desktops. Social login closes that gap on mobile devices by eliminating the need to fill out lengthy forms. The Janrain Mobile Registration Solution also provides registration and login capabilities for all screen sizes, device orientations and form factors designed for the mobile web, eliminating design challenges and adding responsive design to every website. And the mobile SDKs offer full registration functionality for native apps.
NexID awarded grants
NexID Biometrics announced it has received a series of funding grants totaling $325,000, including a highly competitive award given to emerging companies in central New York state.
NexID offers liveness detection software for fingerprint-sensors on mobile devices. The company will use the grants to fund further research, development and commercialization of additional modes of authentication that go beyond its deep expertise in detecting and mitigating attempts to spoof fingerprint scanners used for authenticating entry to secure locations and systems.
NexID will participate with Clarkson University here and West Virginia University in the joint research into biometric security technology sponsored by the National Science Foundation and gains the right to license technology that results from that research. NexID is a venture “spinout” from both institutions, with several of the company’s founders serving on their faculty.
To expand the NSF-funded work at Clarkson and WVU, NexID has received a matching grant of $100,000 from Seaway Private Equity Corporation (SPEC) to develop a commercial liveness-detection application for security systems that scan people’s faces and the irises in human eyes. SPEC provides early stage equity capital funding for companies in St. Lawrence County, N.Y., with significant growth potential.
NexID also received a $150,000 Grant for Growth from the Syracuse-based CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity (CEO), which will be augmented by another matching grant from SPEC in the amount of $75,000. The CenterState CEO grant to NexID was one of only two organizations awarded from among scores of companies that applied for funding.
CA Technologies release new identity management suite
CA Technologies announced the availability of CA Identity Suite, an identity management and governance solution that aims to simplify identity management and access governance across the enterprise.
The CA Identity Suite streamlines access requests, approvals and governance processes for the business stakeholder by translating traditional IT jargon into language and terms a business user understands.
With role analytics, the ability to customize policy and system connections without coding, and the functionality to request, grant and govern user access, the CA Identity Suite delivers enterprise scale identity management in a solution that requires minimal training and offers a consolidated, simplified user experience.
CA incorporated SIGMA, IDMLogic’s leading business-focused application for identity and access governance, with CA IdentityMinder and CA GovernanceMinder to create the CA Identity Suite.
NFC tags for worker verification
codeREADr released “Tap to Verify,” a product that uses NFC tags to authenticate a worker’s physical presence at fixed locations or at any high-value asset, whether fixed or mobile. The service is offered as an alternative to GPS tracking which can sometimes be intrusive for workers and quickly drains their mobile device’s battery.
While GPS is required for continuous location tracking, NFC tags embedded with a unique identifier can serve as an alternative when verifying the time, date and location of a worker’s physical presence at a point of service.
The codeREADr app reads the tag’s ID and authenticates it against a database of valid tags. The resulting scan record includes the TID, date, time, capture method — NFC read, bar code scan, text entry — and any other data collected at the point of service. Clients can filter scan records by the capture method and then view the results online, export file or retrieve using APIs.
The codeREADr app is available for iOS, Android and BlackBerry 10.2.1+ OS devices. Currently only codeREADr for Android can read NFC tags. The company’s roadmap includes enabling iOS and BlackBerry devices in the coming months.
