FIME launches NFC validation tool
FIME announced the launch of its Global TSM test tool that will enable trusted service manager vendors to validate the interoperability of their solution into the near field communications ecosystem. It will also enable mobile network operators and service providers to facilitate and achieve their NFC rollout.
The tool and its test libraries for mobile network operators and trusted service is available to purchase as an off-the-shelf product. FIME can also provide consulting to support stakeholders throughout the global deployment.
The Global TSM tool has been developed following GlobalPlatform’s Messaging Specification for Management of Mobile-NFC Services which outlines the exchange of messages for performing the delivery and the post-issuance management of mobile-NFC services.
The tool is also in line with GlobalPlatform’s End-to-End Simplified Service Management Framework, which streamlines the service management process to implement an end-to-end configuration to deploy services faster. The document specifies the workflows between the involved parties to ensure a seamless user experience; the overall architecture to provide clarity in the data flow and implementation and, the configurations that should be used to ensure interoperability across various interfaces and devices. Once the framework’s accompanying test plan has been published, FIME will submit its tool to be officially qualified by GlobalPlatform.
Palm vein for physical access
Frontech North America Inc. announced the introduction of the PalmEntryXS access control solution. The PalmEntryXS solution features an ergonomically designed user interface, but still leverages the same Fujitsu PalmSecure biometrics technology.
The Fujitsu PalmSecure biometric palm vein sensors use a near-infrared light to capture a user’s palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against the palm vein patterns of pre-registered users. Because blood needs to be flowing through the veins to create the vein pattern, there is an automatic “liveness” check which prevents spoofing.
The PalmEntryXS solution includes an ergonomic wrist guide which facilitates correct placement of the user’s hand ensuring a timely and accurate scan of the palm. The user will benefit from the larger four-color LED display that intuitively assists them through the verification process. The contactless, hygienic authentication process replaces, or can be used in conjunction with other forms of ID such as RFID badges, tokens and PINS.
Fujitsu’s family of biometric solutions, the PalmSecuresensor, PalmSecure for SSO system and the PalmEntry Physical Access Control system all utilize the technology. The palm vein device can only recognize the pattern if the blood is actively flowing within the individual’s veins, so forgery is virtually impossible. This advanced, vascular pattern recognition technology not only provides authentication with low false accept and reject rates, but also allows for fast and easy enrollment.
AGNITiO unveils anti-spoofing voice update
AGNITiO released version 4.1 of its KIVOX Mobile Platform with anti-spoofing protection and ease of use enhancements. Bell ID tapped as Canadian TSM
Bell ID has been selected by EnStream – a joint venture of Bell Mobility, TELUS and Rogers Communications – to provision and manage secure applications on near field communication-enabled devices in Canada.
The technology enables EnStream to operate as a Trusted Service Manager and aims to drive further deployment of NFC-based applications and promote consumer adoption of mobile services across Canada.
Bell ID Trusted Service Manager is a vendor neutral software platform used by trusted service managers. The solution provides over-the-air lifecycle management of applications, cryptographic keys and secure elements on NFC devices. It enables trusted service managers – such as EnStream – to supply service providers, including banks, transit operators and merchants, with the means to securely provision, store and update their credentials and applications on NFC capable mobile devices.
EnStream has been established to act as a hub, interconnecting any Canadian issuer with all mobile network operators making Bell ID’s vendor neutrality especially attractive.
Kaba unveils new dual credentials
Kaba Access and Data Systems Americas, an electronic lock supplier for the multifamily housing market, introduces a series of dual credential InSync RFID keys. The system offers a single electronic key solution for use on standalone locks and hard wired/telephone entry systems that are used on perimeter doors. InSync locks are suited for market rate, mixed use, garden style, mid-rise, luxury, student and senior living facilities, and are ideal for retrofit applications.
Kaba InSync RFID keys come standard with HiTag technology and can also carry a secondary PROX, MIFARE or DESFire credential that enables for a single RFID key integration across all current access control systems.
Users select and order keys based upon the operating protocol of their existing perimeter door access control system.
