Tapit partnered with HTC to showcase the NFC-enabled HTC One X handset at a special event held last week in Sydney’s Technology Startup Area, The Carriage Works.
Tapit used NFC as a “gamification” tool to drive event participation, with the objective of showcasing the camera and sound capabilities of the HTC One X.
More than 1,000 event attendees were given personalized wristbands with their name encoded into the Tapit system. Attendees could then go around to different areas of the exhibit and get “tapped” after viewing HTC demos. The more times they were tapped, the more points they earned to win prizes.
A real-time leader board at the event showed the rankings of the top 10 players. The top 8 players who earned the most points won exclusive prizes from HTC, according to Tapit.
Event VIP’s were also given special NFC wristbands that could be tapped against an HTC One X handset to activate specific content.
