UK chemical plant adopts contactless security system

Brunner Mond has announced it will deploy Crown Computing’s workforce management system, Open Options, across its two UK chemical plants.
The system will replace existing paper-based processes with electronic clocks and contactless ID badges for access control, time and attendance, and activity tracking of some 500 staff, 300 contractors and visitors.
Staff will use the badges to clock in and out, relaying their time and attendance data directly into the company’s payroll systems, allowing for automated payment.
Employees can access the system through the MyOptions Web browser and request leave, check their remaining holiday allowance or view payment transactions. Line managers can use MyOptions to administer shift swaps, register absences and authorize leave or Time Off In Lieu.
According to Crown Computing, the new system will also enable Brunner Mond to improve response time to potential emergencies with the system’s employee location tracking data. The incident response team will also be able to ascertain without delay whether or not all staff concerned have assembled at their respective muster points.
