Sarnoff Corp. explains how its history dating back to RCA Research Labs and the experience with video has helped the company to build an iris recognition system that works well at a distance. “In the past you almost had to press your eye up against the camera to get an iris identification, and now that is no longer the requirement,” says Mark A. Clifton, acting president and CEO of Sarnoff Corporation. “We can capture it at a distance anywhere from one meter to three meters while you’re moving around.”
Enabling individuals to be authenticated with little active participation makes it easy to use. “The best technology is the technology you can’t see,” added Clifton.
