NuVision Networks has been working with colleges and universities on a number of new applications for campus cards which add benefits to students and schools, says Brian Adoff, national sales manager at the company.
Integrating a schools’ ERP into the campus card system can make it easier to give or deny physical access to students attending classes in different buildings. Also by issuing alumni ID cards and requiring them for using different school facilities it makes it easier to target certain individuals when asking for donations.
At University of Maryland Eastern Shore, NuVision has set up a unique application for the student ID that enables students to use the cards to pay rent at off-campus housing. “The benefit for the student is convenience,” Adoff says. “The landlord gets his money quicker and the school gets a percentage of the transaction and sees the float on the declining balance account.”
