PowerID, a provider of battery-assisted, passive RFID technology, announced that its PowerT tags were recently used in numerous fun-run races around the world, from Asia to Australia, to the United States.
Most recently, the PowerT tag was used by PowerID partner, RFID Race Timing Systems, at the Riga Marathon, the HBF Run for Reason in Perth, the Five Mile Run in Dublin, the Singapore Run for Water, and the Tobacco Run in North Carolina. Based in Australia, RFID Race Timing Systems provides timing based on three components: the PowerT labels, a control box, and a mat antenna.
The PowerT tag provides high read ranges, easily read from antennas set up in mats or on gantries up to 9 meters away. It contains an environment-friendly battery and is disposable, which means event coordinators need not worry about spending extended periods of time collecting tags after an event.
PowerT tags can be attached to the back of a runner’s bib, which can be mailed to the runner prior to the event, thereby eliminating any user error by the athlete when fitting a tag to a shore or ankle strap.
