At the RSA Conference in San Francisco, Torsten George, vice president of worldwide marketing for ActivIdentity, discussed the company’s philosophy for merging token/certificate-based authentication with single sign-on.
“The market needs to shift,” says George. “You have to use password management in conjunction with strong authentication.” To that end, he announced ActivIdentity’s offer for customers to purchase the strong authentication solution SA and get single sign-on free.
He details the December 2009 acquisition of CoreStreet noting that both companies serve many of the same customers so it is truly complementary.
CoreStreet brings distributed validation solutions to the ActivIdentity product portfolio, explains George. ActivIdentity has long focused on online authentication services, while CoreStreet’s OCSP products add offline capabilities for remote locations and applications.
