Hershey’s Chocolate World finds another use for smart cards

Finally a more decadent use for smart card technology. Never mind securing your identity or customizing your biometric signature, the Hershey’s smart card enables you to create and track your customized candy bar, according to a report in Lancasteronline.com.
As part of their “Create Your Own Candy Bar” campaign, Hershey’s has incorporated the use of smart card allowing customers to take on the role of factory worker at a Hershey’s Chocolate World attraction.
The attraction will begin with visitors receiving a smart personal identification card. They will load their recipe ingredients into the card and use it to track their candy bar’s progress through the candy bar production.
Visitors will pay a base admission of around $12.95 for a 5-ounce bar and the half-hour experience. Chocolate World is said to have hosted nearly 75 million guests.
