iDTRONIC GmBH, a German-based of RFID hardware devices, has announced the release of its I-collect, a mobile RFID reader using Bluetooth technology. The new reader is designed for deployment in RFID applications for which weight, portability, and ease of use are primary issues.
The new reader is lightweight but robustly designed, and has an integrated battery which can perform 16,000 tag scans on a charge, with a two-hour recharging period. Its internal memory can be used for batch mode, and store up to 16,000 tag IDs. A simplified user interface consists of three control buttons, a blue light LCD screen for time display, UID reading and audible beep confirmations to indicate successful scanning.
The I-collect, available in both HF and LF multitag versions, offers both USB and Bluetooth interfaces communication with a range of devices including PDAs, smart phones, and laptop and tablet computers.
