Innovative Timing Systems (ITS), a newly launched race timing solutions provider, announced a partnership with Alien Technology to develop the Jaguar Race Timing Platform, which utilizes advanced chip, hardware and software technology, to reliably and cost-effectively track athletes.
Previous race tracking technologies have primarily used bar code labels or low-frequency RFID tags on the laces of runners’ shoes, combined with mats spread on the ground to track runners at checkpoints throughout race tracks. ITS saw an opportunity to develop a better solution built on RFID technology.
ITS’ Jaguar Race Timing Platform is a race management package that offers both the hardware and software, including the Jaguar cabinet, antennas, and waterproof timing chips for each racer.
The Jaguar cabinet contains Alien’s 9900 readers, backup power, networking interfaces, a dedicated computer, fans and various support tools. Cabinets are placed at the start, transition and finish lines to collect the times of all race participants. Each race participant is issued water-proof timing chips that incorporate Alien Squiggle and Squiggle SH tags that are read by the Jaguar Timing System.
Jaguar can deliver split times to the race coordinators, generate real-time reports, manage race registrations, and interface to third-party applications. ITS offers optional modules for capturing race photos, videos and providing real-time updates to cell phones and Web sites.
