Voice control can now unlock smartphones

Nuance Communications in Burlington, Mass., has released a smart phone app that will enable users to unlock their phones with voice commands.

As reported on UPI.com, the Dragon ID voice app features dual biometric authentication by recognizing a user’s unique “voice imprint” and a spoken password or phrase.

The technology’s been available to public and private enterprise for use in biometric systems for years, but Nuance is now making it available for the consumer market.

Dragon ID works on Android devices and supports many languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, German and others. Nuance plans to add additional mobile OS and language capabilities down the road.
