The Newport News Public Library System (NNPLS) in Virginia has commissioned Bibliotheca for the installation of library RFID equipment and automated materials handling solutions.
The completed project will fully equip the System’s four community public libraries and a Public Law Library to improve the efficiency of staff, increase the level of customer service offered within its branches and automate the inventory process for each of its libraries.
The RFID equipment to be installed across the Newport News Public Library System includes seven smartserve 400 kiosks, nine smartserve 200 counter top kiosks, 28 smartstation 200 desktop solutions and seven sets of smartgate 400 security gates.
The automated handling products to be deployed in the Newport News Public Library System includes the smartreturn 400 and the smartsort 400 system, which has the capacity to sort 2,400 items per hour.
The three-year roll out will begin with the initial tagging of the libraries’ stock using Bibliotheca’s smartlabe range, followed by the installation of RFID equipment in the second year and the implementation of automated handling solutions in the third year.
