VASCO Data Security International Inc. has started leveraging Belgium’s eID for its MYDIGIPASS.COM platform. It’s also partnered with Belgian bank Belfius to enable eID usage on its online banking app.

Belgians with eIDs and a DIGIPASS 810 eID reader will now be able to authenticate themselves on web sites secured by MYDIGIPASS.COM. They will also be able to generate OTPs with their eID and the PIN code linked to it.

Belfius will start using DIGIPASS and the Belgian eID card for authentication with its online retail banking applications. Customers will receive DIGIPASS 870 card readers and will be able to perform online banking functions with their bank card. Customers will also be able to use the reader to access government applications protected with the eID.

Deployment of the readers will be complete by Q3 2013.
