Bytes using biometrics to cut overtime claims
Bytes Universal Systems has released a new biometrics solution for its SAMRASplus enterprise resource planning (ERP) suite. The new NAVAJO Exception Reporting solution is designed to help organizations combat excessive overtime, invalid sick leave, and other time or attendance-related fraud.
NAVAJO Exception Reporting, part of Bytes’ NAVAJO biometrics framework, is integrated with the SAMRASplus Overtime and Leave modules to enable seamless biometric management of employee activities in the workplace. Using NAVAJO, management can accurately track all staff movements and compare them to officially recorded time and attendance logs, with any exceptions made visible on the SAMRASplus dashboard.
As part of the NAVAJO family, NAVAJO Exception Reporting can be used with biometric devices from any vendor, which means municipalities can add to their existing infrastructure as needed rather than having to replace their existing devices.
Fingerprint Cards AB, Zwipe to offer contactless biometric card
Zwipe will leverage biometrics technology from Fingerprint Cards AB (FPC) in its new contactless card, which features on-card fingerprint scanning and matching.
The inclusion of fingerprint touch sensors from FPC will enable Zwipe to create a high level of security with maximum user convenience. The Zwipe Access card allows for unique customer adaptation through multi-application functionality and is ISO 14443 compliant, which enables the card to work with existing contactless readers and access control infrastructure. Fingerprint data is stored inside the secure card and a positive match activates encrypted communication with a reader or lock. Only the owner of the card can activate the card, rendering lost or stolen cards inoperable.

Aware provides biometrics software for Saudi Arabian pilgrimage travel
Biometrics software and services provider, Aware, has been chosen to provide its biometrics software solution for a pilgrimage travel program in Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has already deployed a number of Aware’s COTS biometrics software products as part of an update to their visa issuance management process.
The new system will leverage Aware’s Biometric Services Platform (BioSP), Universal Registration Client (URC) and related APIs.BioSP is Aware’s service-oriented application that is used to implement workflows and manage data exchange between disparate government departments. URC, meanwhile, is the biometric enrollment application that will operate on hundreds of workstations located in consulates and visa service centers around the world. These workstations will collect biometrics from potential visitors to Saudi Arabia.
Aware served as the principal subcontractor to Fujitsu Arabia Ltd. on the project. Aware also recently announced that it supplied products and services to Fujitsu for a similarly-scoped biometric visa applicant screening system deployed in Canada.
