Texas Instruments has stepped into the NFC market with the launch of a low power NFC transceiver.
According to TI, the TRF7970A NFC platform supports both peer-to-peer communication, read/write capabilities and card emulation, all while saving twice the power of competitive transceivers.
TI says the transceiver enables NFC devices to perform a number of peer-to-peer operations such as configuring Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology sessions between devices without consumer interaction, allowing consumer devices to easily exchange files and contacts, and sharing and interacting with feature and content rich data such as coupons at the point of sale.
The device is compliant with ISO/IEC 18092, 21481, 15693, 18000-3, 14443A/B and FeliCa, and operates at both 13.56MHz or 27.12MHz crystal frequencies, according to TI.
A development kit for the TRF7970A NFC is now available on TI’s website for $99.
