Suprema announced the release of FaceStation, a face recognition access control terminal with patented adaptive IR illumination technology.

FaceStation is an IP-based biometric access control terminal featuring facial recognition technology which identifies individuals from their facial image features. Conventional face recognition technology contains potential weak points brought by lighting and pose variation. FaceStation’s face recognition technology claims to overcome those issues with its algorithm and its IR illumination technology.

This technology in FaceStation enables face image extraction process robust to various lighting conditions while achieving matching speeds of one to 1,000 in less than a second.

FaceStation also features live face detection technology by analyzing eye context from extracted images which distinguishes actual human face objects from imitated face images. Furthermore, FaceStation provides contactless, hands-free biometric authentication which enables convenient and hygiene method than other access control technology.

FaceStation also introduces a new way to design face recognition terminals. It features angled front face to maximize its coverage on users’ height and offers wide touch screen LCD to deliver clear images and messages with a wide viewing angle to users. The device provides auto detection mode with proximity sensor and customizable hot keys for various time attendance functions.

Supreme also offers array of features including wide 4.3-inch WVGA touch screen LCD, dual-CPU processing (1.7GHz in total), videophone interface and embedded Web server. By offering TCP/IP, PoE and WiFi features, FaceStation completes IP access control concept which brings lower per-door costs with extra stability and scalability.

In addition, it offers comprehensive communication interfaces and relays. It allows flexible system design with TCP/IP, 2-channel RS485, RS232, USB and Wiegand interfaces. It also has multiple in/out ports, and for further expansion, optional external relay unit is available.
