The Biometrics Institute has released its 2012 Industry Survey, a look at the trends and developments in the industry over the last 12 months. The survey also polls members of the industry to learn what will be the probable developments in the near future.

In this third year of the study, the institute has found that major developments over the last year have included large scale national ID programs and using biometrics at border crossings.

The study says future developments will include the adoption of biometrics in everyday life. This is expected to be a significant development in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

Responses to the 49-question survey came from 249 respondents and include both members and non-members of the Biometrics Institute. Members can download the report for free from the Biometrics Institute’s website.

The institute will also present a snapshot of the results at its UK Member Meeting on Sept. 13 in London and at the 8th Technology Showcase and Exhibition in Canberra, Australia on Nov. 27.
