Secure ID and card personalization specialist Datacard Group has announced that the Slovakian Government will employ the company’s suite of identification solutions into its national eID program.

The Slovakian government has chosen the company’s MX6000 card issuance system and the Syntera customization suite software to develop highly secure national eIDs, driver’s licenses, border crossing cards, vehicle registration cards and resident permits.

Issuing nearly 520,000 cards annually, Slovakia is seeking to incorporate increased security features, as well as new criteria for speed of issuance and improved quality.

The technology upgrade will boast a number of benefits including increased accountability in the issuance process, more secure, higher-quality laser engraving and higher efficiency associated with smart card personalization and visual verification.

Datacard’s MX6000 technology is used by a number of national eID programs, and with is optical character recognition (OCR) feature, can automate the recording process when expired or invalid documents are returned for destruction.

The Slovakian government has been partnering with Datacard since 2008 when it adopted Datacard’s PB6500 passport issuance system.

Datacard produces and personalizes 10 million cards, 5 million smart cards and hundreds of thousands of passports daily. The initiative with the Slovakian Government is the latest addition to Datacard’s more than 400 government contracts spanning more than 100 countries.
