Siemens chooses Verizon for identity authentication

Munich-based Siemens AG has selected Verizon’s OmniRoot certificate chaining services to provide its global identity authentication.

The Verizon product authorizes Siemens’ in-house PKI and user identity certificates and intends to increase the security of its internal and external communications, as well as Web application delivery.

“It is increasingly difficult – but also increasingly important – for global companies to enable and ensure secure communications,” said Rainer Henkelmann, chief information security officer of Siemens AG. “A significant part of our business takes place online – in an increasingly extended enterprise environment, with customers and suppliers, as well as our own employees – and we need to ensure that our data and information is secure.”
