ScripTalk Audible Prescription

“The ScripTalk Audible Prescription system, which uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, was selected last summer as the sole audible prescription-reading device that Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities can now purchase for patients.

To hear the device recite prescription information, a patient positions the battery-powered hand-held RFID reader within a few inches of the specially printed label, with its embedded microchip and antenna, and presses the play button, said David Raistrick, vice president of En-Vision America Inc., which developed and sells ScripTalk. The user hears a synthesized male voice speak the label in the following order: patient name, drug name, instructions for use, special warnings, beyond-use date, prescriber name, pharmacy phone number, and prescription number.”
