Saudi bank deploys Gemalto banking cards

Al Bilad Bank, a Shariah-based financial organization in Saudi Arabia, has deployed Gemalto’s Dexxis Instant Issuance solution for EMV payment cards in more than 120 bank branches. With this system, Al Bilad can issue up to 2,000 EMV DDA high-end security smart cards a day.

Gemalto customized the solution in Arabic for use at the branch level. Now instead of issuing cards from a central location, a task that involves courier services, banking staff can issue new cards to customers on-site within three minutes using Evolis Dualys card printers for encoding chips and magnetic stripes and embossing the card with the holder’s personal data.

Al Bilad could integrate the new system into its existing IT infrastructure and scale it per individual branch requirements. This allows branches to implement their own rewards and discount programs.

Gemalto provided assistance throughout the implementation of the project and continues to support the bank branches through its customer extend on-the-spot services.
