RFID improves quality of life in assisted living facilities
Silent Partners Technologies announced that it has developed a wander management system using RFID technology to improve the quality of life for seniors and disabled individuals residing in assisted living facilities.
WanderTrack is designed to enable residents with dementia and other mental health issues more freedom both inside and outside the facilitiy by wearing an embedded tracking device, which can be sewn or clipped onto clothing, worn around the neck or as a wristband.
Readers are installed at the entrances and exits, and in any interior areas that need to be controlled. The embedded chip then sends a signal to the monitoring station if a patient wanders off the property or walks into a restricted area.
When the tag is detected leaving its permitted area, staff are alerted by email or text message to the situation and can take immediate action. The system can also programmed to include other dynamic data, and more actions can be taken by the system, such as the locking of doors when there is an alert.
