Financial and commercial card producer CPI Card Group has partnered with X-Card Holdings LLC to manufacture a new card called PowerCore. This card has its own on-board power system that can enhance gift cards and financial payment cards.

Card issuers can customize the PowerCore card with lights and sound for enhanced gift card experiences. For financial and security applications, the card can be incorporated with encapsulated secure chips with OATH-based algorithms for OTP purposes or to add dynamic account numbers and security codes like DBC, CVV and CVC2.

X-Card is providing the powered card pre-laminate inlay components to the PowerCore. The card also utilizes CPI’s hot lamination manufacturing process.

CPI plans to continue PowerCore’s development to include more options for the financial and security market segments.
